We often tell our clients to try to eat slowly and always chew well. Our stomach has no teeth, and therefore has difficulty breaking down large particles of food. Food needs to be mixed with the digestive enzymes, which works best when the particles are as small as possible. In addition the process of chewing makes us feel full faster by influencing the saturation centre in our brain.
