Let me share my story with you and how I can help

The gut is where everything starts for good health – we all have to eat. If eating is what brings us pain and discomfort in the first place, it’s hard to be well and live life as we want to. It upsets me when people tell me they can’t eat, or don’t eat out with friends as their diet its so restrictive and one wrong food can leave them in ribbons.

My favourite question as a child was always ‘Why?’ and I was never satisfied with the basic answers. So when I began to question my knowledge on food and nutrition I wasn’t happy with the answers I got. They never seemed to give the full picture. This led me on my journey into nutrition.

I know finding the solution to your symptoms can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. My heart goes out to people when I hear that they have tried everything and nothing works.

But the solution is out there, and we can find it together.

From my experience in working with clients, once their gut symptoms improve, so too does their energy, anxiety and their overall zest for life.

Everyone is different, there’s no one solution to fit all. This plan will be tailored to your needs and your lifestyle

While I prefer to do as much through food, sometimes we do need the added support of supplements. However by the time you have finished the programme those supplements will be at a minimum

Recommendations on functional testing to investigate the root cause of your symptoms as required *

With gut complaints many times the only way to know for sure what’s going on is to test. If you ahve stool or breath tests done already that’s great. If needed I will go through everything with you at the first consultation

I know this can feel like a big step

I realise that making changes to your diet can feel scary – you’re walking a tightrope and you don’t want to do anything that can aggrevate your stomach more. I understand feeling nervous and wondering if this is the right step.

However, my philosophy is to find the best solution for you to improve your symptoms with the least number of changes. I can help you get there.

We can work on swaps and tweaks without totally overhauling your diet all at once, so that you can feel comfortable with each change before you move on.

Who is Nutritional Therapy suitable for?

Nutritional Therapy is suitable for everyone, young and old, for those who would like to alleviate specific symptoms, as well as those who would just like to improve their overall health and wellbeing. In a nutshell, Nutritional Therapy helps you to identify the foods that make you look and feel your best.

How many times will I need to see you for consultations?

This package includes 3 follow-up sessions. After the initial consultation if we both feel you need added support, these can be broken down into more frequent 30 minute sessions. If you feel need additional sessions beyond the package this can be discussed towards the end of the package.

What health concerns do you focus on in your clinic?

Mostly gut issues such as constipation, Diarrhoea, bloating, IBS, Reflux, Food allergies/Intolerances, diverticulitis. If you have other medical complaints these can be addressed once your gut issues are better. However, if I feel you need more support in this additional area than I can give with my expertise I may refer you on to another NT who is more experienced in this area.

Will my health insurance cover my sessions at The Nutrition Clinic?

Health insurance providers in Ireland offer an array of benefits to their members depending on the plan they are on. Here is Irish Life’s benefits page, which offers cashback for Nutritional Therapy visits.

What's the difference between an NT and other nutrition professionals?

A dietician works within the state sector, i.e. a hospital, and uses the science of nutrition to devise eating plans for patients to treat medical conditions. They also work to promote good health by helping to facilitate a positive change in food choices amongst individuals, groups and communities. Nutritionists are qualified to provide general information about food and healthy eating, but not about specific therapeutic diets. They often work in a range of settings, including research, education and in policy development. Nutritionists are not trained in clinical practice. 

A nutritional therapist (NT) is qualified to provide individualised dietary and lifestyle advice for those who want to find safe, natural solutions to a specific health concern. During their 3.5 year course in medical and nutritional sciences, they also undertake clinical training as part of their qualification. Properly qualified nutritional therapists are subject to the code of ethics and regulations of the Nutritional Therapists of Ireland (NTOI).

Are the nutrition and lifestyle recommendations you give personalised?

At The Nutrition Clinic, the aim is to get to the root of your health issues and concerns, then to get you on an individualised set of dietary, lifestyle and wellbeing recommendations that will help you achieve your goals in the fastest time possible. And most importantly allow you to stay there long term!

Will you give me a meal plan?

Depending on the health condition I may give sample meal plans and recipes when dealing with specific diets. However, I also aim to all educate you on the foods right for you over our sessions, so that you feel able to adapt your current recipes to suit your needs going forward.

Where do we meet?

All of my sessions are either by Zoom or telephone depending on your preference.
